　　2006年1月11日に開幕した Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy　の 開会式で　オノ・ヨーコ　さんが世界の平和を願いながら、ジョン・レノン の　"Imagine"　を紹介し、ガブリエルさんが　"Imagine"　を歌い始めると、 参加者全員（？）で大合唱（？）していました。 世界の多くの人々もテレビを見ながら合唱に参加していたのではないかと 思います。2005年に英速記の練習例題に取上げましたが、2006年で もう一度、取上げます。この機会に歌詞を完全に覚えて、次回には 世界の人々と一緒に合唱が出来るように準備してください。 これは、2006年前半の塾生(？)に対する宿題です。

Remarks 1. Twinkle : W　が言葉の中間にある時は、その母音 （Vowels)　の下に短い　"dash" 付けます。（twice, quite, quick, queen, etc. も同じ方法を使います。）

　　世界の多くの国々の子供たちに愛されている有名な　Mother　Goose　の "London Bridge is broken down"　を英速記の練習例題に取上げます。 非常に歌詞が単純で繰り返しが多いので、英語の口慣らし （英語の発音練習？）にはとても良い　Song　（Nursery　Rhyme)　 だと思います。同時に英速記の練習に活用すると一石二鳥の効果があります。 1番と同じ要領で12番まで続きます。繰り返しの部分にアンダーラインを 引いておきました。参考にして下さい。

　　この　Nursery　Rhyme　は約260　Words　ですが、繰り返しに 使っている　Words　が非常に多いので、英速記の速度を上げる練習には とても良い練習例題だと思います。Self−Dictation　で１番から12番 まで英速記で一気に書き上げるような練習をして下さい。2006年前半の 宿題（？）になっています。

　　The Rat-Race : Stress is a twentieth century illness. The presures on all of us are very great because speed and competition are part of everyday life. In English we refer to competition in society as "the rat-race". We all react to the rat-race in different ways. Some of us get tired easily ; others get depressed; others are often irritable or worried, and so on. The rat-race affects everybody in society, from teenagers to elderly people. 2006/Option 01 : Lesson V - "We Are The World"
　　2004年は地球規模の大災害が発生し、自然環境の大異変を予感させられました。 今こそ、世界は一つになるべきだと思いますので、"We Are The World" を 紹介します。歌詞の通り、"The World must come together as one !!" 　です。 今、我々に問いかけられている重大な　Message　ではないかと思います。 英速記のイメージ画像表示を参照してください。

　　Remarks: 　 World は　Brief forms (Special Abbreviations) で　o-o　となります。 Part 　も　 Brief Forms で　p-t です。Great も　 Brief Forms で　g-r です。family の　-ily は細長い平たい loop　で 表わします。Easily 　も同じです。 Totally のような　-ally　の場合も 同じ方法を使います。

2006/Option 01 : Lesson I - "Sailing"

　　練習例題として、Favorite Song Album 　のイメージ画像表示で 掲載してある中から、 "Sailing"　を取り上げます。この　Song　の歌詞は 非常に簡単で英速記の　Self-Dictaion　に最適です。歌詞を詩の朗読のつもりで 声を出して（声を出さなくても可）詠みながら英速記で書く練習をしてください。 歌詞を覚えたら、英語の部分を見ないで、英速記だけで書いていると、速記の Speed　が非常に早くなって来ます。それに　Phrasing　を加味すると、もっと 早く書けるようになります。例えば、"I am sailing" を速記する場合、 a-m-s-a-l + ing dot と　簡単に　Phrasing　する事も出来ます。 また、繰り返しで何度も出で来る単語や Sentence は自分の記憶できる範囲内で、 なるべく省略するのも賢明な方法です。

　　Imagine の次は　"Let It Be" 　です。定番メニューです。 Let it be が繰り返し何度も使われているので、英速記の練習には物足りないと思いますが、 歌詞もメロディーもとても素晴らしいのでお奨めです。是非、歌詞を 暗記して、あなたの聡明な脳のメモリーに永久保存して下さい。 英速記の学習もお忘れなく！！　Mother　と　Mary　は　Capitalization　で、 2本の上向きのダッシュを　Word　の下に書きます。イメージ画像を参考に してください。　time 　は　Brief Form　で、 t-m　の角度をとり、曲線で 下から上に書きます。イメージ画像を参考にしてください。また、 There will be 　が何度も出て来ますので、 Phrasing 　して、 th-l-b　と簡単に書けます。英速記に慣れて来ましたら、なるべく　Phrases を使うようにすると、書き取りがとても早く、そして楽になります。　 speaking 　の　 speak は　　Brief Forms 　で　s-p です。従って、 speaking は　s-p-ing dot　となります。

　　この曲は非常にスローな曲ですから、英速記の書き取り練習にはとてもよい　Song　です。 morning は　Brief Form で　m-n-ing dot です。glad も　 Brief Form で　g と　l 　は緩やかな波型の曲線で繋げます。 in the, to know, to see, to feel,　to the, は　Phrases　を使っています。 歌詞が非常に簡単ですから、イメージ画像を参考にして、これらの　Phrases　を 覚えてください。他の　Song　でもよく使われています。

2006/Option 02 : Lesson I - "The Rose"

　　メロディーが美しく、歌詞の内容が素晴らしいので、一度覚えてしまえば 簡単には忘れられない　Song　です。100　Words　に満たない、やさしい単語ばかりの歌詞で、しかも、 同じ単語の繰り返しが多く、Self-Dictation　で英速記を学習するのには とても良い　Song　です。歌詞を良く分析してみてください。同じ単語が何度も 使われていますね。Some　は　3回、Say　は　4回、Love　も　4回、 it は　its　を含めて　7回、 is 　も　7回、That　は　5回　も 使われています。これらだけで、歌詞の大部分を占めています。

　　英速記の参考イメージ画像を参照して下さい。この中で　never 　は Brief Form で　n-v です。また、hunger の中にある　ng の 発音は右斜め下に向って短い斜線で表します。これは　song, sing, sung と同じ　ng の速記符号です。但し、進行形の　ing　とは違います。 また、downs と　flower の中の二重母音　ow [au] の発音は 　 how とか　know と同じで、 Brief Form 　の中にある　 how 　の書き方を参考にして下さい。また、以前は　n の前にある二重母音 　ow [au] は省略していましたが、最近の　Second Edition や　 Centennial Edition では省略しないで書くようになりました。 従って、down, town, round, around, sound, count, account, mountain　 等々も省略しないで書いています。

　　一人の歌手が50年間もこの　Song　を歌い続けたなんて、とても信じられない 思いがします。メロディーと歌詞がとても素晴らしいので、歌詞を暗記してから英速記の 練習を　Self-Dictation　ですると、英速記が効率良く上達しますよ！！

　　Tennessee　は　t-n です。 Geographical　Name　の参考イメージ画像を参照してください。 While they were dancing の　while は　hw と発音するので、 速記号でも、　h　(dot）が先に来ます。 White も同じです。 また、歌詞の最後に　The　beautiful Tennessee Waltz とありますが、この　beautiful は母音　u (ju:)　で、 e-o で 表わします。即ち、 b-e-o-tef となります。この母音は few とか　 view 等と同じです。それから、beautiful のように最後が　-ful で 終わる言葉は　f　を続けて書いてこれを表わします。 I introduced her の　introduce のように、intro で始まる　Word は　n を次に来る　Word の上に離して書きます。これは　 international の　inter にも適用されます。Manual　III　を参照して下さい。
